When you think about drying watermelon, you may think there won't be any leftovers because the watermelon contains so may water. But the result is stunning and really delicious. You need to cut large pieces of watermelon that you put on the dehydrator trays to have dried watermelon pieces you can remove from the trays.

I am in the process of drying watermelon. I do this every year with all kinds of fruits. This is the first year in which I have encountered this problem, black pieces. I have black spots on the pieces of watermelon on the trays. Not they are not burnt, I tasted them. Also, I do not have a dehydrator that has a temp. control. It is just one with a fan and rotating trays, where they dry evenly. My question is, what are these black spots? Some pieces are entirely black. Have been drying these particular trays of watermelon about 24 hours, they are about 3/4 the way to being dried. Any help with this question would be appreciated. Thank you. Nancy

ANSWER: Hi Nancy, The only thing I think about is burnt but as you say it's not I don't really know. Could you send some pictures of these black spots?
